Life as an Intern

For the last three weeks I have been interning at British Harper's Bazaar. Although there have been late nights, I love it.

Some of my responsibilities include the usual returns (which there seem to be an endless amount of) and getting credits. Whilst working at Harper's, I have had the pleasure of meeting some really talented Editors. The assistants are also really nice! For such a prestigious magazine, the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. I am particularly greatful to the Production and Bookings Editor, Katie, as she gave me great advice and helped me improve my CV.

I can truly say, Harper's Bazaar is my favourite British Fashion Magazine. They have recently shot Lily Cole and Victoria Beckham for future covers.
Get the new issue!! Its a really amazing read. September's cover girl is Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova.
I am crazy about window displays! Whilst on my lunch this week I noticed what Liberty have done....

Amazing huh? They have covered this wall in a gorgeous floral design.

Crazy Times

So, the last few weeks have been crazy. However Im back, online and done with moving!

The September Issue is schudualed for release around fashion week. The fly on the wall documentry should be interesting, but how real will it be???

I am currently interning at the offices of British Harper's Bazaar... and loving it.

It's one of the places I have been dying to intern at and now I'm here!

But its not easy, its busy busy busy.... Taking calls, running around, picking up, dropping off and ofcourse the infamous RETURNS!

One thing I can say is that Im never bored. It keeps things interesting. And the clothes are more beautiful in real life than on the catwalk!

Although I loved being a workie at More, there is just something amazing about being at a publication like Harper's. But it really isn't like The Devil Wears Prada, the fashion cupboard isn't huge, tidy and clean. Far from it! Part of my role there is too keep it tidy, but it's not easy! However it is one of the biggest fashion cupboards I've been in. It is just PACKED!

Updates on my weeks there as I go along.

Just another random point... Anyone seen the amazing window displays at Selfridges? I havn't got any photos im affraid as my camera is dead... But will if I pass by again!

Another Christopher Kane Copy

Asos have produced this little number...

Asos, £60

Like Topshop, they have kept the sutble pink tone and reworked the organza scallop detailing. However, I think I prefer the Topshop version, and it's only a tiny bit more at £65.

Matthew Williamson will be back in London to celebrate 25 years of British Fashion by showing his new collection.

How amazing is this news?? I wonder who else could possible come to London to show now??

Burberry Prorsum is BACK!

Yes, it’s true!! To celebrate the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week, Christopher Bailey is bringing Burberry Prorsum back to show the Spring Summer 2010 collection. How exciting?
Many are talking about possible cut backs due to the credit crunch, but who cares?? Burberry is coming home and that is more exciting than LFW moving to Somerset House!
One thing I am looking forward to finding out is whether the likes of Testino, Demarchelier, Carine Roitfeld and Anna Wintour will be in the front row as they normally are in Milan??

Maybe this is the start of British designers returning to show in London. Only time will tell.

Big Budget vs Bargain Hunter: Christopher Kane

Style.com says Christopher Kane “can hit fashion sideways with a new idea”. When he showed his Spring Summer 09 collection in London, it wasn’t just the fashion elite that stood up and noticed. He created designs (inspired by the prehistoric era) that where different, refreshing and unique.

I have seen his designs in countless fashion magazines (Harpers, Sunday Times Style etc). Now, the leader in high street fashion has created this little number in homage to Kane. Summer is all about soft textures, intricate detailing and beautiful cuts. Look out for the scallop shape on your hems this season!

You can buy the Christopher Kane dress from Net-A-Porter for £2,735.

Or if your budget doesn't stretch that far like myself, you can buy the Topshop dress in store or online for £65.

Cannes

Cannes and couture seem like the perfect combination for the glitterati in the South of France this May.
Amongst the array of films that are showcasing at the Cannes Film Festival, the stars of the silver screen have been joined by super models, designers, fashionistas, celebrities and socialites. The Cannes Film Festival is not just about films, it is one of the most important social events in the calendar. Therefore they party and sun themselves on the French Riviera and we are dazzled and amazed by gorgeous couture.
6 of my favourite outfits this year are below.

Carine Roitfeld, editor in chief of French Vogue is glowing in her white asymmetric Givenchy Couture gown.

Hollywood veteran Sharon Stone also wears the asymmetric trend in her black Christian Dior dress.

Supermodel Eva Herigova has appeared many times on the red carpet this year in Cannes, but this is my favourite dress, by Versace.

Actress Marion Cotillard looks like the epitome of Parisian chic in a dress by the house she models for, Dior.

Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has, like Eva, appeared many time this year on the red carpets of Cannes. I couldn’t decide which outfit I loved more, so I didn’t. Nobody else could pull off these two dresses like Dita. She wears Jean Paul Gautier Couture and Christian Dior.

If only I was sunbathing on Elton John’s Yacht...
